  • Celebrate World Wetlands Day with keeper talks and activities at the Oregon Zoo!

Countless plants and creatures—including humans—are dependent on wetlands for survival, and our everyday actions can impact their health.

Wildlife experts from the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Forest Service will be in the Nature Exploration Station with fun wetland-themed educational activities. Learn about how beavers shape our wetlands, why salmon survival depends on cool, clean waters, and see our “ancient neighbor,” the Pacific lamprey—a recent addition to the Oregon Zoo!

12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Educational activities in the Nature Exploration Station
12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Fish biologist with the USFWS will be in the Great Northwest section of the zoo, adjacent to the new Pacific lamprey display
Learn more about each of our wetland residents from the keepers who care for them:

10:45 a.m. Species Conservation Lab talk in the Nature Exploration Station
11:30 a.m. Crocodile feeding at African Rainforest
12:30 p.m. Flamingo keeper talk in African Birdwalk
1:30 p.m. River otter and beaver keeper talks in the Great Northwest
2:30 p.m. Duck keeper talk in the Great Northwest

    Free with zoo admission.
